Laura and I are making Christmas crafts during our office hours every Tuesday. So far we have made red and green paper chains and snowflakes. For this week we thought we would make cookies in the office with students (b/c most of them have no idea what baking is) however we realized that would be chaos. So we decided to make enough cookies the night before.
We got some Christmas cookie cutters from Jana, but we did not start baking until after our meeting on Monday, so we did not start to make cookies until 9:30 at night and we had planned on making 200 christmas cut out cookies.
Thankfully, we were able to borrow some toaster ovens, so we had three ovens going, but we did not realize how long it would take to roll and cut the dough. We finished by 1am but we did have a lot of decapitated gingerbread men, elves and Santa Clause b/c we were using a coffee table to roll out the dough on and it was not very big, but our kitchen is even smaller. So we blame the oddly formed cookies on our work environment.
It turned out great. We had red and green icing the kids could use to frost the cookies and we made them hot chocolate! It was quite a hit and the kids loved it!! Most kids have never had sugar cookies before. And it was great b/c we invited all our classes to come to the office and we were able to get some of our students to come to the office for the first time!
